Get your pet microchipped and registered on the New Zealand Companion Animal Register (NZCAR).
Thousands of pets have gone missing since the earthquakes and although some returned home, many are still missing, separated from their owners. It is vitally important that you microchip your pet to help safeguard against losing your beloved companion forever.
If you choose to microchip your pet, it pays to ask your Vet to place the chip details on the NZ Companion Animal Register, in addition to their own database.
Once your pet is registered with the NZ Companion Animal Register, please make sure to update your details if you move - there is no charge to do this. Simply visit www.animalregister.co.nz and update your information online.
If you have moved into the Canterbury area and your pet was microchipped overseas, please ensure to register him/her with our New Zealand Companion Animal Register, as many International Databases are not available for our use.
